THE HAGUE – Alexandra van Huffelen, who was sworn in as State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization today, wants to pay an introductory visit to the Caribbean islands as soon as possible.
“I look forward to meeting the people in the Caribbean part of the Kingdom,” she said after the swearing-in ceremony in Noordeinde Palace. Van Huffelen signed the transfer this afternoon with her predecessors Raymond Knops who returns to the Dutch Parliament.
On January 19, the new State Secretary is waiting for a first debate with the Lower Chamber Committee for Kingdom Relations on the Caribbean Netherlands. Two days later, there is a Kingdom Council of Ministers with several heavy dossiers on the agenda, such as the assessment of whether Curaçao, Aruba and Sint Maarten are eligible for resumption of corona support.
