At 5:00 am, Hurricane Larry was located over the central tropical Atlantic. Larry is moving toward the west northwest near 20 mph. Maximum sustained winds are 90 mph with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days, and Larry is expected to become a major hurricane by tonight.
On its current forecast track, Hurricane Larry does not pose a direct threat to St. Maarten.
The Meteorological Department of St. Maarten will continue to monitor this system and update the public accordingly.
