WILLEMSTAD – In light of the investigation dubbed Lacerta, investigators from the Anti-Corruption Team (TBO), the anti-corruption team of the Criminal Investigation Team (RST), were commissioned by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) to arrest the former director of the public company Refineria di Korsou, Curaçao Refinery (RdK) Roderick van Kwartel. An RdK consultant, Ashely Isidora, was also arrested.
The suspects have been placed behind bars and will be brought before the Examining Magistrate, who will check the legality of the arrest this week.
The Lacerta investigation focuses on possible corruptive acts in the negotiation process for finding a strategic partner for the oil refinery.
The government of Curaçao and the Supervisory Board of the RdK reported suspected criminal offenses.
It is suspected that the two have been guilty of asking for a large amount in bribes. The prosecution does not rule out more arrests.
