PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – It will take him a while longer before he can travel to the United States for medical treatment. Suspended Member of Parliament, Theo Heyliger has found himself in limbo as a result of his passport being reported on Interpol as a stolen document.
Theo Heyliger who is accompanied by his wife, Grisha Heyliger-Martin was notified of this on Tuesday by a representative of the American Consulate in Curacao where he is seeking a medical Visa.
This now means that he will have to wait longer, as a new passport will have to be issued. It is not certain as to who reported that the passport of the suspended Member of Parliament is stolen. However, what is certain is that the OM had Mr. Heyliger’s passport in their possession since he was taken into custody on February 19th, only to be presented to his wife, Grisha Heyliger on Monday, June 17th.
“The only thing we can do right now is apply for a brand new passport and FedEx it to the US Consulate in Curacao and we get a Visa and we get to go,” Grisha Heyliger – Martin said, whilst acknowledging that this is another setback. “It is important that we go to the US to seek medical help,” Grisha Heyliger told us on Thursday.
Thus far, the Prosecutor’s Office has refrained from commenting on the situation.
