On Sunday March 1, 2020 Mr. Stanley Wellington Van Putten passed away at the age of 82 at the Queen Beatrix Medical Center (QBMC) on St. Eustatius after a brief illness. Mr. Van Putten who is considered as an icon worked for 47 years with Police Department of St. Eustatius. He is remembered as a dedicated, committed, loyal and punctual person to his job and whether rain or sun he always showed up to his job. He was one of those persons who were always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in the community. He worked tirelessly to ensure nothing but the best for his family.
Standley Van Putten known as Tat after his retirement from the Police Force worked for a number of years hoisting the flag on all Government buildings and ringing the bell Three (3) times a day-( 6.00am, 12:00pm and 6:00pm) at Historic Forth Oranje.
Van Putten was decorated on two different occasions by the House of Orange and also received the Golden Rock League of Merit for Outstanding Contribution to his community.
Van Putten leaves to mourn his 19 children among which is PLP leader Mr. Clyde Van Putten, His grand children, and great grand children, His Sister Irma Van Putten and brother Adonis Haynes and a host of other relatives and friends.
The home going service for the late Mr. Stanley Wellington Van Putten known as Tat will be announced later.
