PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Student Support Services Division (SSSD) is hosting a free workshop for secondary school students and recent graduates entitled “Crafting a College Entrance Essay and Motivation Letter.”
Secondary students and their parents are encouraged to attend. This
workshop will be held on September 12, 2019 at the Student Support Services Division’s office (above the Gatsby store next to the Windward
Islands Bank in Philipsburg) from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Students who are interested in attending college to further their education will often find that they need to submit a college entrance essay or a motivation letter to the college of their choice. This is an integral part of many colleges and universities application process.
Colleges and universities are looking for students who stand out among the rest; and as such, entrance essays and motivation letters are one of the ways that students can position themselves to stand out from among the sea of applicants that colleges and universities receive each year.
According to SSSD officials, the goal of this workshop is to equip students with the ability to craft an informative and unique essay or motivation letter that will hopefully increase their chances of being accepted to the college or university of their choice. It is important to note that colleges and universities consider many different factors when choosing an applicant to attend their school. However, a well-crafted entrance essay or motivation letter coupled with good grades and successful completion of the application can put a student in a great position to receive the coveted acceptance letter from their choice school(s).
The “Crafting a College Entrance Essay and Motivation Letter”workshop will be held at the SSSD office from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Persons interested in attending are urged to contact the SSSD’s office at 543-1235 and ask to speak to one of the Career Guidance Counselors to reserve a spot as space is limited.
