WILLEMSTAD – The government is in talks with the Netherlands about the content of the reform package. If an agreement is reached on this, the third tranche can be given to emergency financial support.
A major point of discussion is the reform entity, a Dutch control group that must monitor the spending patterns of the islands. Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath says that he is not against such an entity.
In doing so, Rhuggenaath would like to discuss alternatives of entities that control, but do not determine the budgets of the islands, as has now been proposed. A decision on the implementation of the reform measures must be made by next week at the latest.
