WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath wants to reach an agreement with the Dutch government on the points that are important to the Curaçao government. Rhuggenaath emphasizes in a video message on social media the urgency of this as the number of covid-19 infections is rising, which could have a socio-economic impact on the island.
“Our situation is precarious, and the socio-economic challenges are great. Curaçao cannot do it by itself to help the economy or get tourism going,” said Rhuggenaath. The Netherlands wants to provide assistance under certain conditions and Curaçao can agree with the country package with structural reforms.
Curaçao is still in talks with the Netherlands about the consensus Kingdom Act and the powers of the Caribbean Reformation Entity (CHE), another condition.
