SYNOPSIS:
Lingering moisture and weak instability associated with Tropical Storm Sebastian will continue to cause isolated showers across the local area. Winds will continue to be light today but a slight increase in strength is expected tomorrow.
Seas are expected to peak near 7 feet during the next few days. Small craft operators and sea-bathers should exercise caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Slight to Moderate WAVES/SWELLS: 4 to 7 feet
SPECIAL FEATURE: At 5:00 am, the center of Tropical Storm Sebastien was located near latitude 23.0 North, longitude 61.2 West or about 366 miles north northeast of St. Maarten. Sebastien is moving toward the north northeast (away from St. Maarten) near 08 mph with maximum sustained winds near 60 mph and higher gusts.
Tropical Storm Sebastien is expected to remain over open waters with a faster northeastward motion during the next few days. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles from the center.
Tropical Storm Sebastien does not pose a threat to St. Maarten.
The Meteorological Department will continue to monitor this system.
