WILLEMSTAD – The three police officers who were in court on Wednesday for their involvement in last year’s inspection at Marnix College, were sentenced to community service of 80 and 120 hours. The three have been found guilty of performing ‘far-reaching actions’ among minor students at the school.
During a “thorough check”, the three police officers instructed more than 25 students to undress partly. According to the criminal investigation of the national investigation team, it appeared that the legal basis for the control was missing.
There was a lot of social commotion due to the inspection. “The fact that the students must feel safe at school and that police officers perform these actions in uniforms, weighed in the punishment demand,” said the Public Prosecution Service (OM).
Two police officers were given a completely conditional community service of eighty hours and a probationary period of two years. The judge sentenced the officer in charge during the check to a 120 -hour work sentence, of which forty hours are conditional and a probationary period of two years.
