DUTCH QUARTER, Sint Maarten – The Police are investigating a group of persons, who illegally held a Jouvert morning jump up in the area of Dutch Quarter Monday morning.
The event, which was said to have atleast a participation of between 12 and 20 persons dressed up in Jouvert outfits, and accompanied by loud music coming from a vehicle, took place between 12:00 am and 1:00 am.
Shortly after the event got off to a start, the police were called.
Upon the arrival of the lawmen on the scene, according to eye witness account, the participant dispersed and quickly disappeared in the shadow of darkness.
According to reports reaching our news room, the police were also called to Fort Willem Monday morning for a similar event. The police are said to be carrying out a throughout investigation into the matter.
The event took place on the day that the island would have been seeing thousands of revelers taking to the streets in one of the island’s largest events during the carnival festival. However, due to the Covid 19 pandemic, the 2020 carnival activities were forced to be postponed.
