Foresee Foundation’s latest project aims to unite organizations under a community network
PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – NPOwer, an initiative of the 4C Foundation, has recently launched its campaign to gather together all of the foundations in St. Maarten into a single website directory. The NPOwer team, comprising of well known community organizers Melanie Choisy as Project Coordinator and Jose Sommers, President of Foresee Foundation, have a working list of the most active NGOs and NPOs on St. Maarten thanks to databases from Samenwerkende Fondsen, The St. Maarten Development
Fund, Be The Change Foundation, and Foresee Foundation. These organizations are being asked to join NPOwer’s online digital platform to make finding Foundations on St. Maarten an easy and streamlined task.
NPOwer had its launch back in February 2019, with over 75 attendees representing 40+ organizations on World NGO Day. The event concluded with a needs assessment survey for NPOs (non-profit organizations) in order to find out what their needs are. The results indicated that 77% of local organizations were focused on “Executing social and/or other idealistic projects for the betterment of society St. Maarten” and analyzed that 63% of organizations did not have a website and were interested in utilizing NPOwer as a solution for their own web presence. Furthermore, organizations indicated that they were interested in becoming better equipped with fundraising, securing funding and project writing.
NPOwer will be continuing with its project to provide short training workshop courses and trying to connect funding agencies with local NPOs. In March, NPOwer collaborated with the Sports Department to provide 2 days of workshops on topics of tax administration, management and good
governance, fundraising and grant seeking, and marketing and communication for NPOs.
Last Thursday, NPOwer launched its website and is busy receiving applications for NPOs to be listed on the npowersxm.com site. The form will gather the basic mission outline and contact information from every NPO, along with three high-resolution photos. These intakes will then be uploaded directly to Version 1.0 of the NPOwer website. The NPOwer website aims to make available to the public, every foundation on St. Maarten, searchable by category (sports, environment, youth programs, etc) in later versions. All of St. Maarten/Martin’s active NPO’s are encouraged to sign up by filing out the form at npowersxm.com/application.
