POND ISLAND, Sint Maarten – The Government of Sint Maarten is implementing a New School Busing policy that is geared towards enhancing the quality of the service for our students, who need to use the Bus Service provided by Government, to get to and from School.
“The New policy, which will be discussed with school bus operators, during a meeting on Friday July 23, 2021, will include the re-introduction of school bus cards, during the upcoming school year,” the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, drs. Rodolphe Samuel said this week.
According to the Minister, the New policy will require all students using the school bus to register, in order to obtain a school bus pass to ride on the school bus.
All students and parents are invited to look out for more information related to the “Register to Ride on the School Bus” campaign, which is being developed in collaboration with the Division of Educational Innovations and the Department of Communications.
Although, all students wishing to use the School Bus Service of Government will have access to the School Bus when the new school year starts on August 9, 2021, all students who need to use the service must have registered by August 12, 2021 in order to obtain a school bus pass by September 2021.
More information will be provided to the media about the New School Bussing Policy after discussions have taken place with the School Bus Operators who currently provide the service for Government.
