GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten – The Sint Maarten Nature Foundation on Tuesday tested water quality in the Great Bay Beach area after the heavy rains of Monday. As a part of the response to the heavy rainfall water from the Great Salt Pond was allowed to flow into Great Bay Harbor. “It is important after these heavy rain events that water quality is checked to see if there is no contamination in swimming areas. Considering the water quality of the Great Salt Pond we thought it prudent to take a water sample so that we can give recommendations on any concerns which may exist after Monday’s heavy rainfall,” commented Nature Foundation Manager Tadzio Bervoets.
Tests need to sit for at least 24 hours to allow for the results to be observed. The Nature Foundation will communicate test results as soon as they are available.
