WILLEMSTAD – The public prosecution has now the complaint filed by members of the political party KdNT against minister of finance Kenneth Gijsbertha, interim president of the Central Bank Leila Matroos-Lasten and former candidate minister Neysa Schoop-Isenia.

Carlos Monk of the KdNT (Curaçao for us all), says that there is enough evidence that different laws have been violated by all three people or at least by several of them, and there is sufficient ground for further investigation.

At the end of April, KdNT filed the complaint with the National Criminal Investigation Department. Monk then spoke about a “macabre plan within the MAN party where their own candidate minister was double-crossed.

Monk also says that there was a power game that has gotten completely out of hand. This war has made two entities that are supposed to radiate trust and integrity – namely the Central Bank and the Minister of Finance – now public spectacle.

Monk referred to the developments of that time where sensitive information about Isenia was sent to Gijsbertha from the top of the Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).

“The latest developments are contributing to corruption and now they are acts of the Minister of Finance and the President of the Central Bank; Institutes that are supposed to radiate trust and integrity have now proven to be corrupt.”

Monk then pointed out that the screening process involves the Integrity (Candidate) Ministers Act and that the Central Bank and the Minister of Finance have acted in violation of Articles 8 and 22 of this Act. Schoop-Isenia is also guilty of this, according to Monk.

“They all used information related to the screening process – based on secrecy – and distributed it.”
