PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Ebony Steel orchestra under the management of Dow’s Musical Foundation (DMF) have been invited to travel to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to join forces with the Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz of St. Vincent to compete in the St. Vincent Steel Pan Panorama 2019, that will take place there on July 4, 2019. They are pleased and honored to have been invited to take part in this competition and preparations are underway for a selection of members to travel to St. Vincent to compete in this very high standard competition. The St. Maarten team have once again been chosen to take up the responsibility for the music arrangement piece that will be played.
Last year the team captured 3rd place in this competition. It was a great experience for the DMF Ebony youth and adult students and members that attended.
This will be a cultural exchange event whereby members of Dow’s Musical Foundation Ebony Steel Orchestra will perform with the Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz for this competition in St. Vincent, then a team of youth and adult students of the Ebony SVG Pan Jammerz will perform in St. Maarten later on in the year at either the St. Maarten’s Day celebrations in November or at the Annual 29th Steel Pan Christmas Concert, Pan in Paradise scheduled for December 26th.
To help DMF to be able to participate in this competition The Rotary Club of St. Maarten-Mid Isle have sponsored one return airline ticket for travel to St. Vincent for a member of the team.
