THE HAGUE – King Willem-Alexander spoke by telephone with the governors of the three countries of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom. Alfonso Boekhoudt from Aruba, Lucille George-Wout from Curaçao and Eugene Holiday from Sint Maarten updated him on the situation on the islands regarding the corona outbreak.
The king expressed his support for the population of the three islands and praised the care workers there for their efforts. Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten are severely affected by the corona crisis, both medically, economically, and socially.
A total of one hundred corona infections have been registered in Aruba. Two of these died and 68 patients recovered. One corona patient died in Curaçao. Sint Maarten, 68 people tested positive, at least ten died. Tourism is halted on all islands.
