MARIGOT, St. Martin – Several French side teachers who are currently working in France and in Guadeloupe have indicated their willingness to come back home.
Although, there are vacancies available in the teaching profession on St. Martin for which the educators have applied, seemingly, for the past three years, they’ve been turned down over and over again by the director in Guadeloupe.
That is according to leader of the opposition MJP Party in the Collectivité of St Martin, Councilman Louis Mussington.
Speaking to our news department recently, he stated that neither the President of the Collectivité nor the Senator or the deputy have found it fitting to address the teacher’s situation with the competent authorities in Paris.
“They have the means to address the government on this issue via the Ministry of Overseas Department or via directly, the Ministry of Education in Paris,” the Councilman said, adding and they have all ignored the plight of our teachers.
As a result, the teachers have published an open letter in which they are calling on the President to stop neglecting their concern and address their request of wanting to come home, to make a meaningful contribution in the educational development of their country.
