PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – According to the interim Police Spokesman Inspector Josepha, a couple went fishing in the area of Back Bay Saturday morning when they encountered difficulties.
Whilst on the rocks fishing, they were swept away by a huge wave. As a result of the mishap, unfortunately, the female drowned, while the male suffered serious injuries, however, survived.
The body of the female was brought to shore by the Coast Guard.
The Investigation is ongoing.
Saturday morning the Met Office issued an advisory which states that a small craft and high surf advisory is in effect for Sint Maarten until 6 am on Monday, September 21st.
