PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – El diputado independiente Christophe Emmanuel dijo el miércoles que el ministro de Finanzas, Ardwell Irion, abofeteó a los funcionarios públicos en la otra mejilla cuando intentó incluir un puesto presupuestario en el presupuesto del 2021 para contratar a unos 155 nuevos trabajadores gubernamentales a tiempo completo, dos semanas después de encabezar la campaña para recortar el prestaciones e ingresos de los actuales servidores públicos.

“No entiendo qué está haciendo este gobierno y este ministro de Hacienda. Realmente no lo entiendo. Presentó un presupuesto al CFT con un aumento del 16% sobre las cifras del 2019 por costos de personal, luego de que acabara de implementar un recorte del 12.5%. Un niño de escuela primaria te diría que esto no tiene sentido. Así que creó aumentos en los gastos de personal durante una crisis, después de que usted simplemente recortara personas usando la misma crisis que su razonamiento. Simplemente increíble ”, dijo el diputado Emmanuel.

El diputado dijo que no le sorprendió leer que el CFT devolvió el presupuesto con las 155 nuevas contrataciones como un problema obvio. Dijo que el intento de contratación del Ministro de Finanzas sigue a una declaración desconcertante hecha por La Primera Ministra durante los debates en el Parlamento sobre las leyes que resultaron en recortes de ingresos y beneficios.

“La Primera ministra dijo que el gobierno tendrá que contratar personas para ejecutar los paquetes del país. Esto, por supuesto, no tiene sentido, porque los holandeses ya habían ordenado al gobierno que implementara la reducción del 12,5% en los costos de personal, ya que el costo ha aumentado cada año. Pero en lugar de implementar la parada del personal el año pasado como una medida de ahorro de costos, lo que hubiera significado que no se hubieran contratado nuevos empleados a partir del año pasado, decidieron continuar contratando y ahora quieren contratar más ”, dijo el MP.

El diputado Emmanuel dijo que las malas decisiones como esta son solo una de las razones por las que algunas personas seguirán queriendo que los holandeses se involucren. “Cuando el gobierno viene con cosas ilógicas y otros tienen que señalar que lo que están haciendo es una tontería. Es una bofetada más grande para los funcionarios públicos porque ya llevan mucho tiempo sin personal y trabajando dos o tres personas. Entonces, si el gobierno hubiera hecho su debida diligencia, no habría aceptado paquetes ambiciosos que requieren que nuestro núcleo civil asuma más trabajo y acepte un recorte en sus ingresos y beneficios ”, dijo el diputado.

Continuó: “En el pasado, cuando los departamentos tenían poco personal, los funcionarios públicos trabajaban horas extra e incluso los fines de semana con la comprensión del pago de horas extra, las“ gratificaciones ”, etc. Pero dado que este gobierno fue y eliminó todas esas cosas, ahora se le pedirá a un núcleo civil limitado con menos ingresos que cumpla con los paquetes de países para los cuales este gobierno no tuvo previsión, sino que simplemente aceptó “.

También aprovechó la oportunidad para tocar un tema relacionado: “El Ministro de Hacienda sigue perpetuando la mentira de que no se recortaron los sueldos de los funcionarios. Deja de jugar con las palabras. Cortas sus ingresos. Tienes derecho a ciertos aumentos, bonificaciones, etc. Muchos planean sus vidas en torno a esto. Este es un ingreso ganado legítimamente. No es un regalo. Entonces, cuando reduzca estos ingresos, ¿a dónde cree que tendrán que acudir los funcionarios públicos? Sacan de lo que les queda de su salario base, que ahora estará bajo mayor presión además de las obligaciones mensuales regulares. Entonces esta noción de que sus salarios base no están siendo tocados es una mentira ”, dijo el diputado.
