PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – El miembro independiente del parlamento, Christophe Emmanuel, pidió el miércoles a la Compañía de Explotación del Aeropuerto Princess Juliana (PJIAH) que “se apresure” para formalizar el despido del director ejecutivo de PJIA, Brian Mingo, y salvar de la victimización a los empleados del aeropuerto.

El parlamentario, que ha acusado al director ejecutivo y a otros consultores holandeses de robar el aeropuerto, dijo que le hicieron entender que el director ejecutivo está muy preocupado tratando de determinar cómo los miembros del Parlamento estaban en posesión de información confidencial.

Esto se produce después de que varios diputados plantearon varias preguntas preocupantes el lunes sobre la reconstrucción en proceso del aeropuerto. Entre los más notables, se encontraba el diputado Emmanuel, quien destacó la cantidad de dinero que se está pagando a los consultores, el presunto pago doble de Mingo, los beneficios y ventajas de estas mismas personas, así como el hecho de que el resultado final de la reconstrucción del aeropuerto ahora está en US$131 millones de dólares, frente a US$107 millones de dólares.

El diputado dijo el miércoles que sabe que el gobierno tiene la mayoría, si no toda, la información que presentó en la reunión del Parlamento. “No debería haberse dejado en manos de los parlamentarios el plantear el tema.

El gobierno ya debería haber manejado esta situación con la información que tiene. Y si no lo tienen, es negligencia de su parte. Entonces, la pregunta ahora es, ¿el gobierno se quedará sentado y no hará nada? Los parlamentarios son las únicas personas a las que los empleados de estas empresas pueden acudir para recibir un trato justo y en el mejor interés del país ”, dijo el parlamentario Emmanuel.

“Una vez más, vemos al director ejecutivo del aeropuerto preocupado por otras cosas además de controlar los costos excesivos en el aeropuerto y la finalización real de la reconstrucción. La caja de Pandora se abrió y ahora, según los informes, está buscando a alguien a quien victimizar “, dijo el diputado Emmanuel.

“Está creando una atmósfera oscura y malsana en el aeropuerto, como si los empleados del aeropuerto no tuvieran que preocuparse lo suficiente, como la posible pérdida de ingresos y beneficios, ahora tienen que preocuparse por un CEO que está desquiciado. Insto a seguir sus directivas de gobierno corporativo y destituir lo antes posible al director ejecutivo del aeropuerto. Ya debería haber sucedido ”, dijo el diputado Emmanuel.

El diputado Emmanuel también instó al reemplazo de la junta operativa del PJIAE, quien dijo que está empoderando al CEO y contribuyendo a la mala gestión de la reconstrucción del aeropuerto. Continuó diciendo que un líder capaz y cariñoso habría aprovechado la primera oportunidad después de la “interrogación en el Parlamento” para tranquilizar a los empleados sobre los planes del aeropuerto en el futuro, en los que están incluidos y tratados de manera justa. En cambio, continuó el MP, el CEO y su mano derecha CFO aún tienen que responder las preguntas de los empleados sobre el dinero que se les debe y su estado futuro. “Una vez más, su enfoque es egoísta que busca protegerse a sí mismo e intimidar a los empleados.

Esta atmósfera en PJIA no es propicia para el progreso y definitivamente no es un lugar cómodo para lo que debería ser una fuerza laboral dedicada y comprometida, algo que siempre hemos sabido que son los empleados del aeropuerto. Una persona ha influido negativamente en ese espíritu de trabajo y es hora de que esa persona se vaya y se vaya ahora ”, dijo el diputado Emmanuel.
