PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – During the weekend of Thursday, May 30 th to Friday, May 31st , 2019, ten (10) year old Shiloh R. Bedminister hosted her first Two Days Dance Workshop with children ages 6 – 10 years of age.
In 2018, her mother Amanda S. Vital-Bedminister hosted a “Teen-Preneur Build My Business”one week intensive. For five (5) days, Shiloh along with five teens got the privilege to engage in a business development program that sparked their entrepreneurial mindset. The teens were equipped to have an innovator’s eye and a founder’s grit – the skills to excel in an innovation economy.
During that program Shiloh developed her business plan around her goal of owning a dance school. The participants were further urged to create a plan for a business that they can start within short. That’s where Shiloh’s idea to host a dance workshop for children begun. Her continuous prodding to do the workshop, love for dance and acceptance into three prestigious dance schools in Manhattan eventually led her mom to give into her request.
The dance workshop saw twenty plus children participating in various dance genres for two days. Ballet, modern, hip hop, soca, afro-caribbean, acrobatics gymnastics, storytelling, movies and arts & crafts. Shiloh brought in some of her friends; Teen Queen Shaneisha Robinson, Teen King Manukiel Edwards, First Runner up Sharees Taylor and professional gymnast Annelies Steenbeek who worked alongside her to give the attendees a well-rounded program.
At the end of the workshop parents got the opportunity to see what their children did, they enjoyed a short recital of the various genres and closed the program whilst dancing with their children. The workshop was considered a success by both parents and attendees.
Shiloh is immensely grateful to Teacher Arlene Halley from The National Institute of Arts who collaborated with her in order to host this program. Thank you to her sponsors, Prime Distributors, Telem Group, CC1, Van Dorp, Cake House Bakery, Antonia Canhigh, Astrid Davelaar, AMB Alicia M. Shiloh says “Thank You” to parents and attendees for making her first dance workshop
a success.
