WILLEMSTAD – With the help of co-sponsors CINEX, DCSX, Grant Thornthon, HBM Group, IQEQ, Sadekya, SAI Bank, the foundation ‘Curaçao International Financial Center (CIFC), all players in the international financial services sector of Curaçao, once again seized the opportunity to be present at the Latin American Congress 2019 of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) as a competent, reliable jurisdiction.
As a “Gold” sponsor, CIFC has promoted Curaçao and networked the participants with the approximately 500 international IFA members, mainly tax expert and tax lawyers from South America. The support of the Kingdom Embassy was also worth mentioning through a visit from the ambassador to Panama, excellence Dirk Janssen, as well as the presence of the chairman of the CIFC board, Mr. Herman Behr.
In addition, the Curaçao participants have gained knowledge about the fiscal approach with regard to digital economic developments (incl., E-commerce, blockchain’s & cryptos) and the consequences of various international regulatory agreements, for example those of the 29 March. Multilateral Instrument (MLI) signed by the Minister of Finance of Curaçao to harmonize bilateral tax treaties and the practical impact of CRS (Common Reporting Standards).
Once again it has become clear that, through joint action, our international financial services on Curaçao can shine on the international stage! That is why this is also a call for companies in the financial sector to register as a co-sponsor for the STEP LATAM conference on October 17 and 18 in São Paulo, Brazil. CIFC will again have a stand there as a sponsor in the exhibition hall (with the respective company logos prominently on it) and organize a 2nd edition of the exclusive event ‘Brillant Financial Minds of Curaçao’ breakfast session in which co-sponsors have the right to invite a number of (potential) relationships.
