St. Eustatius, 2-22-2023 – Charles Lindo, Director of Tourism for the St. Eustatius Tourism Development Foundation, is among 31 professionals invited to speak at the 2nd annual Caribbean Tourism Career Accelerator (Haiti Edition). Running from January 1st to March 30th, 2023, the free training and internship program prepares young professionals for jobs in tourism.
“Tourism is everybody’s business. There’s nothing that you do in the world that does not have an ounce or touch of tourism in it,” said Lindo during a January 10th session of the multi-week digital program.
Lindo also reflected on how important technology is to tourism. He said during the pandemic when travel was down, the tourism industry pivoted to the digital world to stay afloat. As for finding a job, Lindo said, “you already have a career in tourism. The idea now is to cement that career. Make it more profitable for you.”
When asked what he finds most satisfying about his daily tourism life, Charles replied “It’s about doing the work. It’s about getting the job done. Remember, there’s always somebody watching, to see what you’re doing and how you’re doing it. Having a mindset that’s focused on progress and not harbouring the feeling that you are entitled to anything can help you move forward, and produce meaningful results.”
The Caribbean Tourism Career Accelerator (Haiti Edition) wraps up March 30, 2023.
