PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The seminar about sustainable deployment that the Caribbean Pension Funds Association (CaPAs) would organize in the Maho Resort in Sint Maarten on Friday, 27 March 2020, is postponed until further notice. The celebration of the first lustrum of the interest group of the pension sector on the day before the seminar, is also postponed.
“We do not want to take any risks with respect to the health of our guests”, says Sheila van Veen, the chair of CaPAs and general manager of the Aruban pension fund APFA. “The theme of our seminar was ‘Fit across the finish line’. Of course, this refers to the challenge of reaching the higher retirement age in a healthy and pleasant manner. But we also literally want the participants of our seminar to stay fit and healthy. People would come from several countries.
We take the warnings of the authorities regarding the spreading of the corona virus very seriously. A concentration of many people in a room is currently a health risk we do not wish to take.”
Van Veen cannot yet say when the seminar will be held. “We are closely monitoring all the reports and, of course, we also have to consult with the resort and our guest speakers about their availability. But we are certainly going to hold the seminar about this interesting theme in the near future as soon as it is justified again from the perspective of the health of the participants and other stakeholders.”
Participants who have already signed up for the seminar and paid their registration fee are automatically registered for the new date to be set. Should they not be able to attend on that new date, they can reclaim their registration fee.
