PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – During a short visit on May 8, 2019, The Netherlands Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management, Cora van Nieuwenhuizen met briefly with St. Maarten Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transportation and Telecommunications (TEATT), Stuart Johnson.
During their meeting, the topics of discussion included the commitment of the Dutch Safety Board concerning aviation safety on St Maarten. At the end of the meeting, both ministers signed the MOU that makes this commitment possible.
“The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) is a very important and substantial step being taken regarding civil aviation safety and security. My colleagues from Aruba and Curacao as well as Sint Maarten, together with The Netherlands are committed to continuous improvement of aviation safety. The MOU promotes initiatives designed to
harmonize, and provide a safe and efficient civil aviation system,” Minister Johnson pointed out.
