THE NETHERLANDS – Authorities arrested a man in connection with the New Year’s Day murder of rapper Feis, 32, in Rotterdam. The arrest was made in Kerkrade, Limburg on Wednesday afternoon less than a day after police issued a 15 thousand euro reward for information leading to the capture of prime suspect Silfano Junior M.
Police did not identify M. by name as the person they arrested, but did note that the arrested person was the 25-year-old Rotterdam man they sought as a person of interest in the case. Their public appeal for information about his whereabouts was stripped from the police department’s website by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The shooting took place at about 4 a.m. on January 1 following an apparent argument in a nightspot on the Gouvernestraat in Rotterdam. Witnesses said the gunman was angered when someone called him small, according to Nu.nl.
Authorities said Feis, born Faisal Mssyeh, and his 31-year-old brother had nothing to do with the disagreement. However the shooter opened fire on the street after the catering location’s staff kicked the suspect and a large group of people out of their place.
Feis died at a nearby hospital soon after the shooting. His brother remained in a coma for over a month. Six people who were arrested in the immediate aftermath were cleared by police as suspects in the shooting, though one was accused of possessing a firearm.
Silfano Junior M. was publicly identified as a wanted suspect on February 20. He was featured on Tuesday night’s televised broadcast of Opsporing Verzocht after eluding authorities for months. In the broadcast, police announced the reward for information leading to M.’s arrest.
“I was like a robot. One had to be buried and the other is fighting for his life”, the two brothers’ mother told police in February. “I can not describe it in words, but I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.”
