ORANJESTAD, Sint Eustatius – In the evening hours on Sunday, 14th of November, two 28-year-old men were arrested for public violence and assault. It concerns the men with initials A.V.D.B. and D.S.M. who were involved in a fight during an event near Kapelweg on St. Eustatius in which they had assaulted a man. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance for medical treatment.
****In the early morning hours, around 4 AM on Saturday, 13th of November, during a party at Chapel Piece Road on St. Eustatius, a check was held under the Opium Act BES after a strong marijuana odor was detected. Three clear bags of marijuana-like herb and a marijuana cigarette were found on a man. He indicated that it was for his own use and received a police report for possession of hemp. The three plastic bags and the marijuana cigarette were seized.
A little earlier, at about 2:10 AM, another person was confronted about his driving when a patrol wanted to stop him during the day for riding a motorcycle without a license plate. He was given a police report for driving a motorcycle without valid insurance and a driver’s license. While the report was being written, a man came to the scene and tried to hinder the officers from performing their duties. A 28-year-old man with initials R.D.R. was arrested for insulting an official in office.
****On Saturday, 13th of November, around 4 AM, a 17-year-old young man with initials U.D.K.F., was arrested on the Charles Arnaud Road on St. Eustatius, for not being able to show a valid identification document, for violating the BES Weapons Act, for resisting with violence against an officer on duty and for failing to comply with police demands. The police tried to stop the suspect who was riding a scooter. A box cutter was seized.
