PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Sint Maarten Police Force patrol was able to apprehend a suspect in connect with the theft of a cash register at a Chinese supermarket in the Fort Willem area.
According to the information gathered by the patrols involved in the apprehension of the suspect, on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1.30pm a male walked into the supermarket and snatched the cash register from the corner of the supermarket. The suspect then fled the scene in a white vehicle heading in the direction of the Link One.
The officers were able to relay the vital information gathered from the shop attendant as well as witnesses at the scene, which were necessary to pursue the suspect immediately. After a short search in the area, the patrol succeeded in locating the car in area of Harold Jack.
The suspect who was driving the vehicle was immediately arrested and searched. All items in his possession were confiscated pending further investigation.
The patrol searched the surroundings and found the discarded cash register close by. This was also confiscated pending further investigation. The suspect was transported to the police station in Philipsburg and held for questioning.
