PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – In recognition of Rotary’s Basic Education, Literacy and New Generations month, observed during the month of September, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset honored 9 secondary school educators that exemplified the Rotary ideal of “Service Above Self”. The respective school boards and school management teams were tasked with selecting one teacher, who would be the recipient of a breakfast box, gift certificates from various businesses, and a certificate of appreciation from the club.
“Educators play a pivotal role in early childhood development and they help to nurture and mold the future leaders of tomorrow, yet the teaching profession remains one of the most undervalued professions in today’s society. It was truly a great pleasure for us to be able to uplift and bring cheer to these individuals who have continue to demonstrate the true meaning of “Service Above Self” and who continue to positively impact the lives of our children”, President Jaida Nisbett stated.
The educators honored were;
Teacher Joanna Trim, a teacher at Academy School, was chosen by the FAVE school board to receive the honor of the teacher appreciation as she displays the care and dedication to her students and her career.
Teacher Preeti Notani, a teacher at the Learning Unlimited Preparatory School, was chosen by the school management as she’s always been one to create innovative and positive learning environments for her students.
Teacher Stanley Ejingiri, a teacher at the MAC High School, was chosen by the school board. He is the only male educator the club was able to award this year. Teacher Ejingiri expresses his care and overall dedication to his students.
Teacher Atahlia Daye-Rogers, a teacher at the Sundial School, was chosen based on her dedication to her students and her craft. Tr. Daye-Rogers was filled with tears of joy upon receipt of her presentation.
Teacher Etina Arnell-Mussington, a teacher at the Lycee des Iles du Nord, was chosen as an exceptional educator who strives to ensure her students are striving for excellence.
Teacher Donna Iltes, was highlighted as a teacher at the Milton Peters College who exemplifies the “Service above Self” motto, and encourages her students along their educational journey.
Teacher Patrice Davis, was chosen by the Catholic School Board, as the teacher to award from the St. Dominic High School. Her overall attitude and dedication towards her profession and students made her standout for the award.
Teacher Nikita Rombley was chosen by the Division Public Education as an outstanding teacher at the St. Maarten Vocational Training School. She is dedicated to her students and her craft and ensures her students are excelling throughout their courses.
Teacher Patricia Horton, a teacher at the Caribbean International Academy (CIA), was awarded based on her overall dedicated and commitments towards her students.
