WILLEMSTAD – The government is going to deploy extra security at government institutions following the fire at the tax office. Arson is not assumed, but other buildings with specific information will be extra protected.
In the early Thursday morning around three o’clock, a fire broke out at the tax office on Regentesselaan. The fire brigade arrived quickly but was unable to prevent a large part of the first floor from burning out.
Finance Minister Kenneth Gijsbertha said during a press conference not to assume that it was arson, despite the fact that a loud bang was heard before the fire.
According to Gijsbertha, surveillance at other government buildings will be tightened.
