THE HAGUE – State Secretary for Kingdom Relations and Digitization Alexandra van Huffelen will visit the CAS countries and Bonaire from 20 to 25 November. The State Secretary will speak with the governments and also will take time to visit several projects on the islands.
Van Huffelen meets in Curaçao with representatives of the different countries and islands of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom to discuss the history of slavery. They will talk about, among other things, how content can be given to the memorial year Slavery Past in 2023.
In addition, the State Secretary will talk to representatives of the Climate Change Platform and Profound, a young Caribbean organization in the IT sector. A meeting with Caribbean Research and Management of Biodiversity (Carmabi) is also on the program and conducts discussions about the development of innovative agriculture.
On Sint Maarten, Van Huffelen will visit the National Recovery Program Bureau and will be informed about the Landfill.
The State Secretary will also visit Aruba. Here she will get a chance to visiti the Aruba National Archive.
The journey is concluded on Bonaire, where the State Secretary visits victims of the recent flooding and gets an explanation about the situation of the dams.
