THE HAGUE – The Boards of Financial Supervision on the Caribbean Islands need a new chairman. The current chairman, Raymond Gradus, will leave on 1 February. The suitable candidate will work approximately 25 hours per week in this position. “We are emphatically looking for someone who gives color to the diverse composition of the committees.
The Financial Supervision Boards are aimed at realizing the common goal of all governments within the Kingdom of the Netherlands, namely achieving sustainable financial government management.
The position of chairman is classified in the second highest salary scale at the national government, scale 18. That salary starts at 7,927.55 euros per month and increases in steps to 10,553.53 euros per month for a 36-hour working week.
Profile
The Kingdom is looking for a chairman who has financial knowledge in the field of public finance and knowledge of administrative and political relations. Macroeconomic expertise and a broad social interest are, of course, indispensable, as is an administrative experience in complex organizations.
It is recommended that the chairperson has knowledge, experience, and affinity with Kingdom affairs and Caribbean issues and a relevant network.
The chairperson has the ability to act as chairperson in the committees with authority. In addition, the chairman has the personality and background to fulfill a leading role in the opinion and decision-making of the boards.
The chairman is able to quickly understand complex problems and brings sharpness to the substantive issues at stake. The chairman concentrates on the main points, oversees the playing field and ensures progress in the discussions.
The new chairman must be honest, of good conduct and independent in his/her judgment. Has a strong personality and dares to make choices. According to the law and regulations, the chairman may not have held a national political position in the Netherlands or on the islands in the past five years. The committees meet at least three times a year for two weeks in the Caribbean. The chairman is expected to be willing to travel regularly.
