Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — After much speculation, it is now officially confirmed that Acting Judge of Instruction, Ajamu Baly has been approved as the incoming Governor of Sint Maarten.
Making the disclosure of his approval was the Honorable Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, Minister with the responsibility for General Affairs, Silveria Jacobs during a meeting of the House of Assembly Friday morning, August 26th.
Mr. Baly is to replace the current Governor, His Excellency drs. Eugene B. HOLIDAY, whose tenure comes to an end this year.
Drs. Holiday made history when he officially became the country’s first Governor on October 10th 2010 and served in this function for 12 years.
Mr. Baly will be inaguarated as the country’s 2nd Governor during a planed solemn ceremony slated to take place in the House of Parliament on Monday, October 10th 2022.
This will happen following the formalities which are to be done in the Netherlands by His Excellency King Willem Alexander.
