PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Sint. Maarten Lions club recognizing the continuous positive efforts over the past years by the FirstCaribbean International Bank “Walk for the Cure – and adapted to “Drive for the Cure” paid a courtesy visit to the bank’s Country Manager, Mr. Garth Sherwood, highlighting the Lions support of the fundraiser motorcade that will take place this Sunday. The event which marks its 10th year, was adapted to a motorcade considering the ongoingCOVID19 pandemic. Funds raised are donated to benefactor foundations that in turn promote Cancer Awareness Activities and Campaigns to the communities that they serve.
Lion President Linette Gibs was accompanied by fellowLion members and Ms. Shelly Alphonso, President of the Positive Foundation. The Positive Foundation is this year’s benefactor of “Drive for the Cure” and is widely known on the island for their continuous Cancer Awareness Information Campaigns and facilitating health tests for breast and prostate cancer detection.
Lion President Linette Gibs: “We recognize that the pandemic has brought about the need to look at things differently and think outside of the box when serving our communities. This Lionistic Year’s theme is “Bridging the Gap to Embrace Change” and we found it fitting this year to directly support the FirstCaribbean Bank fundraiser towards Cancer Awareness. The Bank has embraced change from Walk for the Cure to hosting its first motorcade under the theme “Drive for the Cure”.Together, we achieve more, and share a common interest of wanting to enhance the lives of the people in our community through positive service initiatives.”
