PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – On Wednesday, June 16th , Members of the Committee of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Affairs of Parliament, accompanied by the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (ECYS), drs. Rodolphe E. Samuel and civil servants from the Ministry of ECYS made a working visit to three (3) Public Education Elementary Schools.
The purpose of the tour was to give lawmakers insights into the ongoing repairs at the various schools.
The three (3) schools visited were the Orjane School, the Marie Genevieve de Weever School, the Dr. Alma Fleming Care Center (Prince William Alexander School) and the Martin Luther King School.
The tour started Wednesday morning with a visit to the Orjane School on Front Street from where, the Minister of ECYS, drs. Samuel addressed the lawmakers.
During the work visit, the Minister of ECYS gave an update on the repairs of all schools visited and the school managers of each individual school presented their current challenges and concerns on repairs that still need to be met, due to Hurricane Irma.
Members of the Committee of ECYSA of Parliament were also informed about the internet upgrades at the visited schools. The school managers expressed their gratitude for the work done thus far and that they look forward to the scheduled renovations.
