PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The staff of the Marie Genevieve de Weever Primary School recently had an informative session with Communications Coordinator Bart van der Meijden of the White Yellow Cross Care Foundation. The purpose of the informative session during the second staff meeting for this month was to apprise them of the COVID-19 vaccine program.
“There is a lot of myths circulating around the island especially via social media and its imperative that our staff gets first-hand information,” remarked Stuart Johnson School Manager of the Marie Genevieve de Weever Primary School.
The staff was presented the “Vaccination Against COVID-19 roll out plan” by the Ministry of Public Health, Social Development and Labor. Additionally, the staff was able to ask countless questions regarding the ongoing vaccine program.
“I was elated Mr. van der Meijden accepted my request and he gave us an impressive presentation which was deeply appreciated by all present,” Johnson added.
The topics covered included, How do vaccines work, how are vaccines developed, why is it important, type of vaccines, safety & efficacy, side effects, contra indications, vaccination roadmap, vaccination procedure, and the vaccination registration.
“Signing up for the vaccine remains a personal decision and that must be respected, despite any proven science behind the vaccines. I wish continued success to the Vaccination Management Team (VMT) and all front-liners as we continue to face the realities of this ongoing pandemic of COVID-19,” Johnson concluded.
The Marie Genevieve de Weever Primary School is a Public Education school located in the District of Sucker Garden with a total student population of three hundred students. The school has an English stream and a Dutch Stream.
