PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has engaged the firm Altus Banding Agency to develop, guide and implement dynamic innovations in Carnival, brand expansion and other services that will elevate the festival to levels that create an unforgettable and immersive event experience.
Having to endure two years without Carnival due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the SCDF has committed to using its downtime to finally develop a segment of the festival that has long been overlooked. “For a festival the size as Carnival, we are a little behind with innovative solutions to compliment the festival and make the experience more efficient and ever evolving depending how you use technology,” the foundation said.
The event industry, the foundation stressed, is an industry where technology is evolving at a rapid rate. “It is important for us to keep your finger on the pulse so we don’t miss an opportunity to reap the benefits for Carnival and its stakeholders. We want a strong digital presence and for us there is no better team to lead this effort than Jennifer Carty and her team at Altus Branding Agency. Carnival is big, the biggest event on the island, so we needed a team that thinks big and who do not confine themselves to boxes. We believe the project is in great hands,” the SCDF said.

At present the SCDF and Altus is in the information gathering phase of the project. It will be carefully managed with identified deadlines to be ready in time for the launch of Carnival 2022 later this year. Considering that the SCDF starts preparing for the annual festival in June of the year prior, the partners expect to be busy right up to and including Carnival itself.
“All too often we see organizations jump right into making a purchasing decision about technology without having done the groundwork ahead of time. Our needs assessment will be thorough and we will involve and update stakeholders along the way,” the SCDF said.
As for Carnival 2022, SCDF said: “It will be unlike anything any Carnival lover has ever experienced. Two years of pinned-up energy looking for good trouble.”
