PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – A year of challenges is coming to end and is leaving behind memories while the expectations are many.
A meeting is planned for today to discuss the way forward with education. We will take the advices of the public health officials in consideration and advise the education stakeholders accordingly.
Most naturally the media will be informed as to the decision made.
Having the schools repaired, as to provide a positive environment in which our students are educated, will certainly contribute to improving on the quality of education. Everyone would admit that education is important so bringing education more the fore front will also be initiated in the coming year.
It is important that more attention be given to youth of Sint Maarten. The facilities and opportunities needs to be in place to assist them in their decision making about their lives and theirfuture.
Sports will continue to get the needed attention. Even though the Covid -19 situation has put a damper on things, fixing the sports facilities and initiating the creation of sports tourism on Sint Maarten should happen.
Culture, must continue to play that so important role in the lives of the people in Sint Maarten. Putting the accent on the importance of culture for the economy is also one of the things that must continue to happen.
I want to make use of this opportunity to say. Thank you to everyone that I worked with during the year and thank you for the cooperation you have provided
This year the department of education has chosen their person of the year. Her name is Eva……..
Eva was chosen because:
“Eva has worked very hard from the moment she joined the Department. She does her work accurately, professionally and in a timely manner. She is a great team player. She has always been available to offer support and assist whenever needed, whether that be in a professional or personal matter. Her dedication to her work shows. When times were tough, Eva repeatedly showed up, shined, and provided professional support every single time and it is truly admirable. Job well done!”
