BELVEDERE, St. Maarten – On May 30th , 2019, in recognition of Youth Service Month, the Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset donated to the F.C. Veendam for their upcoming Fundraiser Soccer knockout which will be held on Saturday, June 1st , 2019. The F.C. Veendam approached Rotary
St. Martin Sunset requesting a donation for their upcoming soccer knock out, which will aid in generating the needed funds to ensure the continuity of the football club. After receiving the donation list, the club decided to donate 6 cases of water and 6 cases of juice to be distributed to the participating teams.
The F.C. Veendam is a club that aims to nurture the youth and teach them discipline through sports. With the little recourses that they have, the coaches make valiant efforts to get the players to show up for practice every Saturday between the hours of 09:00 am to 11:00 am. As a result, hereof, the players are rewarded with trips to neighboring islands to compete in various soccer knockouts.
The club saw the donation as a worthy cause, “Youth is happy because it has the capacity to see beauty. It comes but once in a lifetime. We must see them as a tree, nurture them while they’re still young, don’t wait until they are big to try and mold them,” Youth Service Director, Ruminni Rogers quoted.
Rotary St. Martin Sunset will continue to pledge in areas that support, enhance and nurture our youth, as they are the future of St. Martin and the greater world.
