CAY Hill, Sint Maarten – The OBGYN (Obstetrics and Gynecology) ward at the St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC) received a donation of baby boxes from 360 GiftBox earlier this week.
Thanks to this timely donation, the nurses on the ward will gift 48 unsuspecting moms with baby boxes filled with essentials handpicked to celebrate their new bundles of joy.
360 GiftBox Founder Erica Fortuno is humbled by the opportunity to work closely with several community stakeholders on this initiative. The contents of these boxes were made possible by Windward Islands Bank (WIB) along with Prime Distributors who donated several packs of Pampers Pure.
Each box contains 1 baby cleansing cream, 1 baby moisturizing milk, 1 thermal water, 1 diaper changing cream, 1 pacifier, 2 mother’s milk tea bags, 2 nipple pads, 1 shower cap, 1 pack of Pampers Pure,
1 baby bag with changing pad and 1 congratulatory card. These baby starter kits will be available to all parents with babies born at SMMC while supplies last.
Asked why she decided to engage in this initiative, Fortuno said several factors inspired her decision such as mothers who are on bed rest, preterm labour, mothers with the lack of knowledge and financial means amongst other things. “I realised that there was a need for an essential package to make starting this new life’s chapter a little easier. This is also a great gifting option within our collection of boxes for new parents and baby showers,” she said, adding that a lot of responsibility comes along with starting a family or having a baby and she wanted to help make the process easier for moms. “Plus, when I pregnant with my son I saw the need for this.”
SMMC Medical Director Dr. Felix Holiday expressed thanks for the donation on behalf of SMMC. “On behalf of St. Maarten Medical Center, I would like to thank Ms. Fortuno and 360 GiftBox for their donation to our OBGYN (Obstetrics and Gynecology) ward. We appreciate the thoughtful consideration in the curation of these boxes for the needs of new mothers and their babies,” Holiday said.
