CAY HILL, Sint Maarten – “Football is a sport that connects all over the world and WorldCoaches play a significant role in this by inspiring and guiding children on a sporting and social level on three themes: personal development, health, and social cohesion,” the Honorable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, drs Rodolphe Samuel said.
The WorldCoaches is a program produced by the KNVB and is based on the KNVB’s many years of international experience in coaching and training.
According to Minister Samuel, since 2018 the Sint Maarten Football Federation (SXMFF), with the help of the KNVB and instructor Piet de Jong, has implemented the WorldCoaches coaching courses on Sint Maarten and over the years, graduated over 50 WorldCoaches on the island.
He remarked: “Coaches are able to upgrade to a new level yearly. Once coaches become certified, they are then able to partake in the scheduled SXMFF activities, such as; afternoon school activities and programs at various schools on the island.”
This year’s graduating class was the largest so far in the history of the WorldCoaches on Sint Maarten. A total of 21 coaches received their Introductory Level Part 1 Certificate on Saturday, May 15th and 8 received their Basic Level Part 1 Certification as well.
“I hope we can continue to develop many more WorldCoaches for Sint Maarten in the future,” drs. Rodolphe Samuel said. Adding: “Once again I would like to congratulate all the young world coaches and encourage them to continue to guide our youngsters so that they can become great athletes of Sint Maarten.”
