PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – As of February 16th, two thousand and thirteen (2013) persons had a laboratory confirmed COVID-19 infection. To date, there have been one thousand nine hundred and twenty seven(1927) persons that have recovered from COVID-19 and twenty seven (27) persons have passed away. There are currently fifty nine (59) cases that are actively being monitored by CPS.
Since our COVID-19 vaccination registration launched last week Thursday, over 1600 persons have already registered to receive the vaccine.
On behalf of the Vaccine Management Team, Minister Panneflek would like to thank the public for their questions and the Minister hope that the information presented, provided clarity on some of the concerns brought forward.
One point of concern brought forward last week which may have caused some confusion regarding a statement made on underlying conditions and eligibility for the vaccine; a person taking blood thinners is not a reason to not take the vaccine. All persons are encouraged to engage in conversation with their doctors if they have any questions or concerns about their underlying medical conditions and their eligibility to receive the vaccine.
As a reminder to the public, the vaccination administration locations will start at CPS and then will roll out to community help desks (not the community centers) in Cole Bay and Dutch Quarter. Any change to these locations will be communicated in a timely manner to the public.

The Minister would like to remind everyone of the necessary precautions to safeguard their health, that of their families and our community. If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, stay at home and call your family doctor. Most importantly, continue to wear a mask, practice 2-meters social distancing, sanitize and wash your hands frequently.
