SPECIAL FEATURE: At 5am, Beryl became the first hurricane of the 2018 season. Beryl was located near latitude 10.6 North, longitude 45.1 West or about 1300 miles southeast of St. Maarten. Beryl is moving toward the west near 14 mph. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 75 mph with higher gusts. T.S Beryl is forecast to weaken by Saturday and become a tropical storm or an open trough east of the Lesser Antilles late Sunday or Monday. MDS will continue to monitor this system closely and keep the public updated.
