Philipsburg, St. Maarten–Delays in issuing building permits at the Permits Department of the Ministry of VROMI, are mainly caused by extensive back logs for several years, and have worsen since the passage of hurricane Irma in September of last year, due to an increase in construction activities.
In an effort to alleviate the problem, the Ministry of VROMI has requested and has received approval from the government of the Netherlands to have three (3) technical workers to St. Maarten. Those employees will be stationed on the island for a period of three (3) months to assist with the building permits back log.
