WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao – The U.S. Consulate General Curacao will be closed on December 5, 2018, due to the National Day of Mourning to pay homage to the memory of President George H.W. Bush. In his honor, a condolence book will be available for those wishing to show their respect. Signing opportunities at the U.S. Consulate General Curacao, J.B. Gorsiraweg 1 in Willemstad, will be on Thursday, December 6, 2018 from 14:00 – 16:00 and Friday December 7, 2018, from 10:00 – 12:00.

President George H.W. Bush’s life was defined by service. He volunteered for combat in the Pacific during
World War Two. Through his heroic efforts as an aviator in the United States Navy, the youngest in United
States history at the time, President Bush flew 58 combat missions. Propelled by his sense of duty to his
Nation, George H.W. Bush reentered public service after the war, first as a Member of Congress, and then
as Ambassador to the United Nations, Chief of the United States Liaison Office in China, Director of Central
Intelligence, Vice President, and President of the United States. President Bush helped to bring the Cold
War to a victorious end and to transition the country into a period of sustained peace and prosperity.
