PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Every year for St. Maarten Carnival there is one local song that stands out above the rest. This song is one that the whole island can sing word-for-word, young and old.
Even visitors who attend carnival for a few days are attracted to this song because of its popularity among the locals. However, this song never seems to win an award. For example, in 2018, the song “C’est La Vie” by Odd Brother was the most popular song for carnival but it did not win any award. By popular demand, the SXM SOCA TEAM presents “ROAD JAM 2019”–an award for carnival’s most popular song.
The winner will be judged by the SXM SOCA team based on popularity throughout the duration of St. Maarten Carnival 2019. The winner will be announced at the end of carnival and will be awarded $1000.
Come out and meet the SXM SOCA team and the Morethan4 team at St.Maarten ARMY FETE on Sunday April 28th 2019 at the Philipsburg cultural center 10pm until.
Get ready SXM artists and bands! We will be monitoring, day and night, to see which one of your songs stand out above the rest.
Good luck to all SXM musicians. #SXMSOCA #SXMStyle
