A drier airflow into the region will aid in restricting precipitation during this forecast period. Meanwhile, the dominant Atlantic high pressure system is generating gentle to moderate breeze. Slightly hazy conditions are expected to prevail as varying concentrations of Saharan dust passes over the region.
Moderate marine conditions is expected during this forecast period. Small craft operators and sea bathers should exercise extreme caution.

SPECIAL FEATURE:
Isaias became a hurricane overnight. At 05:00 AM (09:00 UTC), was located about 690 miles west of St. Maarten. The system is moving toward the northwest (away from St. Maarten) near 17 mph (28 km/h). Maximum sustained winds are near 80 mph (130 km/h) with higher gusts. Some strengthening is possible today, and Isaias is expected to remain a hurricane for the next few days.
This system no longer poses a threat to St. Maarten.
An area of low pressure located in the eastern Atlantic is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms. This low has a small window of opportunity to become a tropical depression today while it moves northward at about 10 mph before environmental conditions become less conducive for development.
