SYNOPSIS: A combination of light southerly winds, lingering moisture at the lower levels of the atmosphere and daytime heating may cause local showers during this forecast period. Rough seas are expected to persist until Monday morning as large, long period, northeasterly swells generated by Hurricane Teddy continue to invade regional waters. Small craft operators and sea bathers should continue exercising extreme caution.
STATE OF THE SEA: Moderate to rough WAVES/SWELLS: 6 to 10 feet
SPECIAL FEATURES:
- Hurricane Teddy continues to move away from St. Maarten, posing no direct threat to the island.
- At 5:00 am, Tropical Storm Wilfred was located about 1410 miles east-southeast of St. Maarten with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Wilfred is not expected to last more than another couple of days and could dissipate as soon as later today. This system poses no threat to St. Maarten.
