PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Member of Parliament Ardwell Irion on Saturday, September 29, donated podcast recording equipment to the staff of Teen Times.
The MP was recently the invited guest of Teen Times during one of the group’s “Teen Times Chats”, held with prominent people in the community. He encouraged the group to keep writing and keep up the work it has been doing for more than 20 years, but to expand that work to include other mediums.
MP Irion suggested using podcasts to reach a wider audience including their peers. Three weeks later he followed through on the suggestion by surprising the group with podcast gear to help them get started. The P told the group that he will be looking forward to the content produced with the podcast gear and urged them to do so on a regular basis.
According to Coordinator of Teen Times Roosje Rommy-Richardson, the group is currently preparing to launch new content via a video and radio project. She said the podcast gear adds the possibility of a new medium.
“We plan on taking full advantage of the donation from the MP. We have our monthly print publication, we have Facebook and Instagram covered, now we will be re-starting our radio program, shooting short videos with positive messages and, thanks to MP Irion, will add podcasts to our efforts to reach young people and their parents. We are very grateful to the MP and assure that the gear will be put too good use,” she said.
